Overview
The STI (Science and Industrial Technology) baccalauréat with a specialization in electrotechnics — also known as the ET track, formerly bac F3 — is a technological baccalauréat offered in general and technological high schools.
It is aimed at students in the last two years of high school who want to focus on electrotechnics, coming either from a general and technological "seconde" or from a vocational diploma (BEP) followed by a bridging first year.
The program combines a common core shared across all STI tracks with specialized technical courses tied to the chosen track. It blends theory and practice, with a strong theoretical emphasis.

Technological coursework in detail
ESTI
ESTI (industrial technical systems studies) is the core of the STI electrotechnics program. It combines three subjects:
AII (automation and industrial computing)
In this subject, students learn to detect, manage, and transmit information across industrial control chains and industrial computing systems, through both coursework and — mainly — hands-on labs.
Electrotechnics
In this subject, students learn how electrical energy is generated, transported, and converted, as well as how to protect people and property from electrical hazards. Over the two years, students also receive electrical safety certification training.
ESTI (industrial technical systems studies)
This course runs in parallel with AII and electrotechnics, deepening students' understanding of electricity.
Applied physics
Applied physics is a key subject in this baccalauréat, as it is where students deepen their understanding of electrical phenomena and laws. This goes beyond the fundamental physics taught in "seconde" and focuses specifically on physics applied to electricity.
Structural mechanics
Structural mechanics — also called mechanics and construction, or structural design studies — is a subject in which students study the relationships between mechanical bodies, including the static and kinematic laws of solids, among other topics.
